Co-Historian
Karmen Lewis (they/them)
HI! My name is Karmen! I am a Galveston native, a pre-Med Biology major and a Cultural Anthropology minor. I joined FAT to find a like-minded and motivated Black community and cement myself into a strong organization on campus. I will use my position to create an inclusive and intersectional space for Black students from multiple minority communities to share their experiences and be heard.

Co-Historian
Nasya Thomas (she/her)
Hey, y'all! I'm Nasya. I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but raised in Beaumont, Texas. My major is Journalism. I joined FAT because I noticed how few of us are on campus and wanted to play a larger role in consolidating and mobilizing the Black community at UT.
My mission is to create an environment where Black UT students can feel represented and have spaces where they are recognized and loved. I want our community to be one unit where we all work for the advancement of each other!

Kaitlyn Ballenger (she/her)
I'm from Dallas, TX and am majoring in biochemistry. I wanted to be apart of the Black community as soon as I got to campus! I love being involved and building relationships with students around me. I believe that Black students have the right to a higher education and to build a social network with their fellow classmates.

Community Engagement Co-Chair
Temitope Erinle (she/her)
Hello! I am a Houston resident, a Computer Science major and one of your new Community Engagement chairs! The Freshman Action Team presents a unique opportunity to forge connections and shape an unforgettable experience for the Class of 2028. As a Computer Science major, I have observed few Black individuals in this field and this motivates me to contribute to an environment that allows Black freshmen at UT to connect and thrive outside the classroom. I plan to build a network that fosters success and resilience among my peers. Beyond this, I am excited about the opportunity to connect with students from diverse backgrounds. We can cultivate a campus environment that celebrates inclusivity and mutual understanding by embracing our differences and learning from one another

Patrick Adão-Perez (he/him)
Hello everyone! My name is Patrick Adão-Pérez and I am your Political Action Chair. I'm a Dallas native with a major in Business in Finance and a minor in Global in Sustainable Leadership.
I joined FAT because I wanted to contribute to and participate in a compassionate and generous black community at UT Austin while also encouraging political self-education.

Political Action Committee Member
Brianna Sutton (she/her)
Hi Everyone! My name is Bri Sutton and I am a FAT Ambassador this year. I am a freshman psychology on the pre-law track from Denton, Texas. I joined FAT because I knew that it would be somewhere that I could walk in and see people how look like me and have similar experiences to me. This year, my goal is to encourage exploration and education so that Black UT can thrive beyond their college years.

Public Relations Co-Chair
Amani Barsakis (she/her)
Hello! My name is Amani Barsakis! I’m a Communications major, from Austin, and I’m one of the Public Relations Co-Chairs! ☆
I joined FAT because I believe it is important for freshmen on campus, especially Black freshmen, to have a space to find community and explore campus resources. Campus can feel overwhelming and isolating, and FAT is a place where people can come together and acclimate to this new environment!
Through public relations, I want to expand FAT’s reach and make Black freshmen aware of our organization and that we are for them. Being able to help create the “image” of FAT and engage/draw people to our organization is an important role, and I love doing it!
